Writing a blog can feel like a big ask at times. You’ve had a busy week running your business and keeping on top of work, and then you’re expected to find the time to write a blog post. And that doesn’t just mean sitting down to write it. It’s coming up with an idea, finding the relevant photos and making sure that the SEO all lines up. But, having a blog on your website has more benefits than you realise. Here are Circle Media’s top 5 reasons that you should have a blog on your website.


I really can’t stress enough just how beneficial blogs are for your website SEO. They give you the opportunity to expand the keywords you’re using and can really boost your Google ranking. When writing blogs you’re able to create the content around keywords you’d like to rank for, that you haven’t been able to work into your main website pages. If you’ve got a smaller website with only a few pages, you’re only going to have a few keywords on your website. This makes it really hard to rank for these terms and to be found on Google for all the different products and services that you offer.

Before you jump into blog writing, create a list of keywords and phrases that you’d like your website to rank for. Then tailor your blogs to include them.

2. Establish yourself as an expert

If you’re creating regular blogs addressing changes in your industry, new product launches, FAQs or relevant tips and advice, then you have a good opportunity to establish yourself as an expert in your field. Creating blogs answering questions that people might be Googling is a great way to drive traffic to your website. And once they’re there reading your blog and finding the answers they’re looking for, they’re likely to go and look at what you offer.

Blog posts shouldn’t just sit at the back of your website, they’re designed to be shared. Post your blog on social media and include a link to read more. Include it in your monthly newsletter or Mailchimp and drive interested traffic back to your site. If your content is genuinely good and relevant, related Facebook pages or friends of the business might share it too. Suddenly you’ve got great reach on content that is boosting your businesses profile.

Try to make your content engaging to encourage people to interact with it.
